Ford Essex 3.0L V6 /RX8 adapter
This adapter plate was designed to bolt a Ford Essex 3.0L V6 engine to an rx8 gearbox using as many ford factory parts that fit this engine. It utilizes the starter motor/flywheel from althe v6 Essex engine and clutch, the 4 speed clutch friction plate will have to be changed to a 23 spline ford unit that suits the type 9 5 speed ford gearbox.
In this case you should be able to use a mazda 6 slave cylinder with a bit of spacing off the bellhousing (the type with a 90 degree bleed nipple) to avoid the cylinder head along with the rx8 clutch slave cylinder push rod and rx8 clutch arm and release bearing with very little work, but In some cases the clutch arm pivot point height might need adjusting to suit. Some grinding will be needed for the starter motor to clear the bellhousing. We have kept the starter motor in the engines original position so that all the ford sump ans parts can be used where needed. There is also a bracket on this adapter plate so a clutch cable can be used. It is possible to adapter the rx8 clutch arm to take a clutch cable. The bolt pitch tapped in the adapter plate is M10x1.5mm. Spigot bearing RX8031 is to be used with this adapter.
